Common questions

A verification run is one job submission: one GDS layout + one netlist + one PDK specification, processed through all active engines (LVS, optical loss, mode check). Re-running the same design after edits counts as a new run. On Starter, 5 runs per month resets on your monthly billing anniversary.
Yes, for cloud-based verification jobs, your GDS and netlist files are uploaded over HTTPS to Photoniq's processing infrastructure. Job files are processed in isolated containers and are not retained after report delivery — typically deleted within 24 hours of job completion. Enterprise customers can request on-premise deployment for air-gapped or NDA-restricted designs.
Yes. Starter tier is specifically designed for evaluation on your real designs. If you're using AIM Photonics or Applied Nanotools NanoSOI PDKs, you can run immediately after signup. For other PDKs, contact us for a professional evaluation arrangement — we can configure your PDK before you commit to a plan.
Starter includes the community PDK library: AIM Photonics 300mm PDK and Applied Nanotools NanoSOI. These are the two most commonly used PDKs in academic and open-source PIC design. Professional and Enterprise plans include all 5 standard PDKs plus custom PDK configuration support.
Typical verification time is 5–30 minutes. Simple circuits (under 50 elements) usually complete in under 10 minutes. Complex multi-level hierarchical designs with hundreds of components may take up to 30 minutes. Professional+ plans have priority queue access with < 30 minute typical turnaround. Processing time is independent of PDK choice — complexity scales with element count.
