Frequently asked

Common questions.

A project is a single RTL design repository — typically one chip or one major IP block. You can run multiple analysis passes (as your coverage database evolves) within a single project without that counting as new projects. Projects are counted by the number of distinct RTL repositories you connect, not by analysis runs.
Yes — Photoniq doesn't run your simulation. It reads the coverage database your simulator already exports. You keep VCS/Questa/Xcelium in your own environment and just export the UCDB file. One CLI command sends it to the Photoniq analysis engine. Studio tier includes on-premises deployment if your policy requires the analysis to run behind your firewall.
The CLI tool sends the UCDB file and a structural index of your RTL — module hierarchy, port names, and coverage-relevant code constructs. It does not transmit full RTL source text. If your design's module names and port names are subject to NDA, the Studio tier on-premises option keeps all data on your infrastructure. See our Privacy Policy for what is stored and for how long.
Yes. Photoniq parses all four standard UCDB coverage types: toggle, statement/line, FSM state/transition, and cross/functional coverage. Prediction quality varies by type — toggle and FSM have the highest prediction accuracy (these are structurally well-defined). Functional coverage depends heavily on how your covergroups are instrumented. See the Coverage Model documentation for per-type accuracy breakdown.
Monthly plans are month-to-month — cancel any time, no minimum commitment. Annual plans are billed upfront for the year and come with the ~17% discount. Explore is free with no time limit. Studio contracts have custom terms negotiated per account.
